For today's class team Dirty Minds will present information on the following events:

13th Amendment 1865 was inspired by the Emancipation Proclamation said that there could be no slavery or involuntary servitude unless it was punishment for a crime committed.

14th Amendment of 1868 nullified Dred Scott case and said that no one can be deprived of life, liberty and property. Had 3 clauses: Due process clause, equal protections clause and privileges of immunities clause.

15th Amendment of 1870 Was ratified in 1870 however, was not properly enforced until nearly a century later.Granted suffrage for African Americans.

Civil Rights Act of 1866 Overturned Dred Scott decision and stated that all citizens must be equally treated. Also states that all persons born in the USA are citizens and race color or previous conditions do not apply.

Civil Rights Cases of 1875 Federal law put into place that prohibits discrimination in public places/ accommodations

The femininazi's presented the following facts for the listed historical events:

Civil Rights Cases of 1883 Five cases were taken to the supreme court level that involved African Americans being denied entrance into public places. The decision was that the Civil rights act of 1875 unconstitutional; congress does not have the power to legislate matters of racial discrimination.

Lincoln assassination of 1865 Originally he was supposed to have been kidnapped however he did not show up to the location he was suspected to have been at. Lincoln was the first president in history to ever be assassinated

Black Codes of 1866 was a series of laws created by white southerners that were against the 13th amendment. Made to restrict different activities and life choices that African Americans could make. For example, blacks could not buy certain pieces of land.

KKK formed in Tennessee in 1866 was first formed as a "social club". The KKK had spread to every southern state by 1970 with a mission to terrorize black people.

End of Military Reconstruction in 1877 Democrats agree to not block Hayes inauguration and in turn no federal troops would interfere in southern politics
